After long long planning and
finding people for the trip, I managed to get 4 for the trip,Vinu, Ratheesh, Jairam &
Suni, scheduled to start at 8 AM but we managed to start at 8.10 from Vinus
home in 3 bikes with me Suni, Vinu & Ratheesh , Jairam was solo as he
planned to go to him home after the trip
From inputs from blogs and
additional info from Jairam the route was clear, we have to reach Puthur, that
ie Ernakulam – Thrissur NH after Paliakara toll booth, after crossing the 1st
bridge we have to take a round about below the
second bridge i.e Kuttanellur that leads to Puthur – Mannamangalam –
Marottichal its about 7 kms from Kuttanellur
We reached Marottichal junction
and bought some bread, bananas for our lunch, we started our trek a 11.30 am, on
the way near the canal we saw a father & son swimming, they told us to take
the pathway which will lead to the falls, so we started our trek thru the
jungle along side the streams and small falls,
the first falls is named Cheeran kund kuthu, the second Olakayam and the main
falls is called Elanjipara, its not a clear pathway all along the way trees
were fallen and elephants seems to be frequenting on the way because the water is very nearby.
We were on the hope that we will
follow the stream which was on the righ side,so that we will not lose our way,
but after 45 minutes we crossed a stream after that we have to follow the path
way on the left some where it diverts to right, but we moved along the left
side, we was checking the time we trekked because as per inputs the falls
should be seen in 45 minutes walk but all were pessimistic because we could not
hear any sound of the falls, but I told them we will walk for another 15 minutes,
and moved forward after about 15 minutes
walk all took a deep silence and sharpened their ears for a faint noise of the
falls, so we were some where near the falls by 12.35 pm we reached the falls,
and had a gr8 time in the falls.
2 pm after a good water falls
massage Suni & Me was searching for the true view of the falls and because the falls is between
a small hill so we decided to move up and saw the full view of the falls,
and Jairam wish to see the top of the
falls and went there too
On the way back we saw small
groups moving towards the falls till
this time we didn’t see any body, most of them are having a nice on the
streams, small falls on the way. We were also looking for a place to have a dip
once again and by 3.40pm we found a place and, here Ratheesh had a nasty fall,
but luck was on our part and nothing happened, me and Jairam had a dip in the
cool refreshing water, by 4.45 we reached our bikes which was parked on the
road side.
